| Description: | From 32nd annual South Carolina BBQ Shag Festival Website: The South Carolina BBQ Shag Festival is held in Hemingway, SC. The 3 day event will bring Carnival Rides, Music, Vendors, Bands, Dancers, lots of people, and of course, the annual Marion "Woody" Curtis BBQ Cook-off competition.
The festival will be held for the 32nd time. The festival first took place in 1987 and has since become a yearly tradition for many families. We hope you will start a new tradition at our festival this year!
Our festival chairman is John Michael Collins. In 2019 Mr. Collins was elected Mayor of Hemingway. Born in Hemingway and a resident of Hemingway since he was a freshman in high school, Mr. Collins has made it his mission to help revitalize the town. His continued support of the festival is one of the reasons why we are able to provide a weekend of family fun.
