The 8th annual STRONG THREADS AFRICAN AMERICAN CELEBRATION & FESTIVAL (FREE EVENT) takes place Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the St. John Holistic Wellness Center, 222 JW Neal Circle, Hopkins, SC.

STRONG THREADS, Inc. celebrates the heritage, history and culture of African-Americans with music, dancing, storytelling, visual and creative arts, and drama for audiences of all ages. For the past six years Strong Threads has been educating the community through, activities for children, workshops, and live entertainment that included appearances by authors Rose Rock and Joyce Hansen, storyteller Aunt Pearlie Sue, African dance and drummers and many other speakers, entertainers, artists and crafts individuals from South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. Thousands have enjoyed this FREE fun-filled day sponsored over the years by the Richland County Hospitality Tax Commission, SERCO (Southeast Rural Community Outreach) and the Network for STAAR.

Join us this year as we focus on Anti-bullying, South African President Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther Kingand educating the community through entertainment. Have fun with us as we will celebrate with dancing, food, singing, workshops, art, music, vendors, youth games and more!

Come join us as we welcome some of this years event highlights: Jazz, R&B, Pop, & Motown entertainers from Hilton Head South Carolina Candace Woodson & The Domino Theory Band, South Carolina's youngest Gospel Jazz & R&B young adult band "The Horizon Band", African drumming and dancing lessons from The ABATSU Dancers of Augusta, GA, an amazing performances by The Little People Theatre of Greenville, The Hopkins Middle School Chorus,The Regina Skeeters Band, greetings from The Rev. Sammy Wade, speaker Representative Joe E. Brown, live entertainment from New Destined Outreach Ensemble, The Regina Skeeters Band, Author Ginetta V. Hamilton, an anti-bullying production from Oriana Rhema Productions, and lots more! Hosted by national recording artist Regina Skeeters and Mo' Money.
